16 SEPTEMBER 2026, SINGAPORENicholas Chia, Chief Executive Officer at Aolani, Malaysia’s leading neocloud, today joined fellow AI ecosystem players at Data Centre Nexus (DCN) 2026, hosted by the Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA), for a panel discussion on Malaysia’s cloud and compute landscape.

The session brought together players in the AI ecosystem like EdgeConnex, DayOne, and AirTrunk to discuss how Malaysia can balance the rapid growth of digital infrastructure with broader economic development, talent building and long-term competitiveness across Southeast Asia.

As a neocloud, Aolani operates on a business model that complements data centres. With the Aolani Token Factory, the company turns raw compute into tokens, the core unit of value in the global AI economy. This allows Malaysia’s digital infrastructure sector to shift from hosting capacity to actively producing and exporting high-value digital services that is comparable to earlier export-driven growth sectors such as palm oil and semiconductors.

Nicholas Chia said, “We believe the benefits of AI should be evenly shared, which is why we’re committed to democratise access to compute for local SMEs, sovereign needs, and critical sectors like education and agriculture. Our hope for Malaysia in 2030 is that we become one of the largest global exporters of tokens. In the future, compute will become a commodity, and if we get it right, it will drive export growth for the good of the people and the economy.”
